Why not escape for a while and spend an hour or two fishing the finest small river in Central Scotland.
Within easy reach of Edinburgh and Glasgow (40 min), and Perth (30 mins) the Allan offers affordable brown trout, sea trout, and salmon fishing for all. The Allan Water Angling Improvement Association controls approximately 15 miles of mostly double bank fishing. The Association is committed to providing good quality affordable fishing for its members and visiting anglers who are always welcome and both daily and season permits are readily available. The season opens on 15th March and closes on 6th October for brown trout and 31st October for salmon and sea trout.
2018 Season The 2018 season was a difficult one with members seeing the river levels drop to low levels throughout the summer and well into the autumn. Trout and seatrout fishing does not seem to have been affected too much but into May the water levels were so low you would have to be invisible for the fish not to see you.
Salmon fishing was almost non existent. Only with the first week of October did the water rise to sufficient levels to allow a decent run of grilse and salmon to enter the river.

With some water finally after the last rain some fish are now making it into the river after a very long dry spell.
Some grilse have been caught over the last couple of weeks even in the lower water and more rain due later in the week hopefully this will keep the water levels at a decent level and bring in more fish.
